Things You Can Do If You Are Stuck in NYC

I know New York City is where everyone wants to go and live their dreams but not in summer. Especially when its freaking 86 degrees out there. I always had plans for summer to go on a vacation to swim and just chill by the beach but this summer I have nothing. Nada. I am still struggling to find a good internship and currently on a job hunt where I can just hide behind the books and not bother by anyone. And I was thinking while rollerblading in Central Park, actually trying not to fall for the twentieth time, “This is actually not bad.” Not rollerblading, going downhill was horrible but I mean being in Central Park and just spending your time with your friends. After I felt that I probably broke something I hold on to the side I looked around and saw many many people around the world; families, couples, friends.

So, to the people who are stuck in the city, depressed and doesn’t want to do anything that includes leaving the room just think that people come to this city may be one time in their whole life and spent their time under the sun but still have the amazing vacation.

*Bike, don’t if you are impatient like me because people don’t know there is an actual bike lane so they just walk like slugs and blocks the whole lane, or walk across the Brooklyn Bridge or simply just take the ferry.

*When you walk down the stairs turn right and keep the bridge on your right. If you are a pizza lover or really want to try a real pizza I strongly suggest you go to Juliana’s.

I know everyone keeps saying Grimaldi’s is the best one but I disagree. Grimaldi sold his place and then opened a new place, Juliana’s, right next to it with their secret recipes and all. But do be careful because they use high gluten flour on their pizza and someone like me who didn’t know who was allergic to any type of food can end up in an emergency room. Still, worth it.

You can either get your pizza to go or if it’s too hot you can get some ice cream from Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. You can find the place if you keep walking down to the riverside, you cannot miss the line.

Alright, now, you got your ice cream/pizza. Walk under the Brooklyn Bridge through Water Street and keep on going until you pass a basketball field and see brick ruins. Walk between them and get ready to be amazed. Empire Fulton Ferry State Park is right in front of you. All you need to do now is find a good spot.

I am such a foodie but while you are there and it happens to be on Saturday you can catch the Brooklyn Flea’s Smorgasburg, the weekly food festival that takes place on Saturday afternoons on the Williamsburg and DUMBO waterfronts.

If you really don’t want to do discovering and feeling kind of lazy you can always go to the Buzz Bar and chill under the umbrellas looking at the view.

Fill your bag with snacks and drink and bake some cookies! Sheep Meadow is a perfect place to have a picnic with all of your friends and enjoy a really nice afternoon weather at the gorgeous Central Park.

I always shop from fruit carts while walking to the park, surprisingly they didn’t disappoint me, yet.

While you have everything for a picnic you can go to the next stop. This might be one of the best thing city has to offer: Bryant Park’s outdoor series of movie screenings that takes place on Mondays through the summer.

Movie lineup is mostly blockbusters, award-winning works, and celebrated cult films.

Its summer night and obviously no one wants to go home yet or maybe you are too old for this shit, then goodnight to you and sweet dreams. Others, take the subway or enjoy being outside not being in a sweat box, walk down the 5th and 27th. You are all sweaty and probably not dressed properly for a rooftop but, 230 Fifth is nothing like other rooftops. They just scan your ID and you are good to go to sip a cocktail at a rooftop garden by the stellar view of the Empire State Building, and the city under your feet.

I have never been to this place but heard really good things about it: Frying Pan, the lightship docked at Pier 66 Maritime in New York City. People say that they serve unbelievably tasty seafood and FRENCH FRIES.

I know there are much more things you can do but I already have passed my word limit, but please let me know if you have any activities for people who stuck in the city. Seriously. Please.

DONUT PUB.

You will thank me later.
